Art 3 snapshot #2

The faded project is complete!!!! I think that it turned out okay, not what I thought it was going to turn out like. Sometimes that's the way the best art comes out. Last time you saw it, it was just coming together! I blended the paint and I think the fade really came together if I had done a better job with the letters. I think my favorite part is the un even gradient .

New project-
I have decided to do print making on an elephant and I am working on Pinterest and my sketches!
The elephant will be printed on the ez cut. And then will be cut out!

Text Art

I found some ideas of text art on Pinterest! Using Pinterest helped gather some ideas for my challenge ideas and my final project.

Challenge #1
-using symbols to spell a word.

Challenge #2
-using a word to make an object.

For my final project I had the idea of using paint as a medium. Then after I knew what medium I was going to use. I looked on my Pinterest board to gather ideas. I came up with having the word fade. Painting the word faded.
This is my practice project to see how it would look. I like how it looks, but the fade in the letters are going to be better on the final, to get the full effect.

Mixed media

This project was very hard because it was a concept that I had to learn as I went. I wasn't here when we went over it but I started to get the concept of adding different things to make my object have the texture appeal and the contrast that I wanted. I think that this project has changed since the original, it started of as just a dragon and then I added the news paper to make it kind of like a Chinese dragon. Also the newspaper contrasted with the dragon to make it pop. I think that this medium/ technique was very hard considering that I have never done this before. I think the strengths of this is that the dragon pops, the weakness is that the dragon looks kinda childish. Overall I think this was a fun project but very hard to make it look not as childish, I would love to do more of this technique.

Sticky situation

This project represents a sticky situation because what is the person going to do now that he is in hand cuffs. Doing this project was really fun because it was using a medium that I really am not comfortable with.  As you can see the picture kind of changed because I'm not as stellar as Helen Keller. But I really learned a lot from this project, from blending to the shading. My skills with acrylic paint improved as I went on so I would have loved to continue. I think the best part of this painting is my hands I feel like they really resembles real hands. The worst part of the project was probably the most important and that was the repitition of the hand cuffs. I feel like doing small details with paint is very difficult to show value. Overall I like this project and I have learned a lot.

The claw

This is supposed to be an alligator claw. I honestly liked this project. Artist take risks like I did I used prisma colors and I have never used them before. I used my own unique ideas by having the red to yellow fade in the back because they are the compliments of green and blue. This also makes the claw the focal point and the details stand out. When I started this project I decided to make it super zoomed in so that one of the fingers is off the page this creates a good balence of the artwork on the page. During this project I learned how to use prisma colors instead of crayola. I improved my techniques with colored pencils and I really think that it turned out to be a good piece. I think that I could have put more contrast with the webed feet from the fingers. Also I think I could have blended the claws Better but it was hard to blend black and white. Overall I liked this project and would do it again. But I I did it again I would do the webbed feet differently.

Colored pencil

I loved making this project because colors pencils are my favorite things to use. I feel like they are nice and easy to work with and it is easy to show the value in the lollipop. I found again that the lollipop was very hard to draw because of all the wrinkles in the wrapper plus it was hard not to eat it.  But I find that the things that work in this piece is that the values in the pole of the lollipop and the values in the wrapper. The bad things are the control of the pencil and you can see streaks of the the pencil. I liked this project and I most likely will choose color pencils for my final because they are the neatest  to work with and I have been using it for the longest time.

Chalk

This project I found to be really hard. I found the chalk to be a lot like the pastels but harder. I found it to be messy and kinda hard to keep neat. The strengths of my project are how I blended the colors and showed the translucents of the wrapper. But the weakness of this project was how the wrapper looked I think it would be better if I was neater and looked better. Overall I liked using the chalk but I will not choose chalk for my final because I found it hard to use.
